Our client is a Boutique Asset Management company based in Cape Town with considerable further operations in Africa. Due to expansion in their Investment team they now have a role for a Multi-Asset Portfolio Manager to join their establish investment team. This role will provide excellent growth opportunities for a skilled and experienced Multi-Asset PM to add value to the firm’s investment capability.

JOB DESCRIPTION | KEY PURPOSE
The position offered involves acting as a Portfolio Manager (Multi-Asset Class Funds) across different portfolios, clients, and product offerings.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage several multi-asset class funds as lead portfolio manager. Take full end point responsibility for performance.

Work within the company’s current Macro and Multi-Asset class philosophy and process. Fully understand the process, contribute to improvements and extensions, and implement the process to develop investment views.

Form investment and macro-economic views to drive asset allocation.

Develop and implement investment strategies in underlying asset classes.

Support with mentoring and growing the skills and capabilities of fellow analysts.

Produce research reports / articles for internal research and marketing purposes.

Report back to clients on fund performance and outlook.

Present the fund strategy to prospective clients.

To assist in any other responsibilities that required by the business, including the development of new products and capabilities.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE

At least 2 years’ experience managing a multi-asset, equity, or fixed income portfolio as a lead Portfolio Manager

At least 10 years’ experience in analysis, fund management, etc in the listed financial markets.

Demonstrate the ability to develop, implement and improve a repeatable, multi-asset class investment process and philosophy.

Has thought deeply about investment management, development of philosophy, source of edge, etc. Evidence of reading widely, passion for the industry. A research and evidence-based approach to investing and development of repeatable processes.

Experience conducting research and analysis, either macro, economic, fixed income, equity or quantitative

Strong qualitative and quantitative analysis skills.

Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills. Leadership skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

A self-motivated, committed work ethic and a drive for perfection as well as keen attention to detail.

Ability to perform under deadline pressure.

• MCom (an advantage)
• CFA (an advantage)
